Historic Aero Engines

Historic Aero Engines is pleased to present three WW2 veteran British Aero engines.  They will be ground run for the public to hear, feel and smell.

On display at FIA2018 will be three engines; two Rolls-Royce Merlins and a Bristol Hercules:

- The Merlin Mk500 was originally built in 1943 for an Avro Lancaster bomber.

- The Merlin MkXX was from a 1941 Bristol Beaufighter night fighter.

- The Bristol Hercules Mk216 was from a Handley Page Hastings bomber.

Come and watch the displays; run times will be posted on the 'next run' clock by the engines throughout the day.  After each run, come inside the enclosure and get up close to these icons and ask all the questions you ever wanted to ask.  Ensure the children come as well; they are the next generation we are there to encourage!
