FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW LAUNCHES ITS 2018 VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME
Farnborough International has confirmed that applications to join the Farnborough Flyers volunteer programme at the airshow next summer are now officially open. The initiative which was launched at the 2016 show saw some 50 members of the general public joining the show’s regular workforce to assist visitors during the public weekends of the airshow.
With ambitions for 2018 to double the number of volunteers, the recruitment drive has now begun in earnest and the show organisers will be canvassing local enthusiast groups, colleges and other groups who might be interested in getting involved.
Speaking about the Farnborough Flyers, Head of the Public Airshow, Sarah Gladstone said, ” Whether you are an aviation enthusiast, looking for experience in the event industry or just looking to get a behind the scenes glimpse of one of the world’s most prestigious events, we are sure you’ll enjoy volunteering with us.”
Former Farnborough Flyer Chantelle Lawes, aged 19, who is already planning to return to the show next year also commented, “Volunteering as part of the team offered an insight into what it takes to deliver an event on the scale of Farnborough, to be able to add this my CV will I hope, impress any future employer.”
Equally, Tony Myers, 67, also added.” It was great to be part of the Farnborough Airshow team and help with visitor management. It was hard work, but what a great opportunity to see all the aircraft and watch the flying display.”
People who are interested in becoming a Farnborough Flyer can apply by visiting the website here. Once applications have been reviewed, successful candidates will be invited for an interview at the show offices in Farnborough. Full training and uniforms will be provided.
